As Downton Abbey has proven time and again, the Victorians really knew how to tip a glass...just about every social occasion was accompanied by an assortment of spirits!

For your next get-together, try these Victorian-inspired recipes and add a dash of charm to your gathering. Drink and be merry!
Sherry Cobbler
1 teaspoon powdered sugar
2 ounces carbonated water
3 ounces sherry wine
In a goblet, dissolve the powdered sugar in carbonated water. Fill with shaved ice and add the sherry wine. Stir well and decorate with fresh berries and a sprig of mint.
Gin Sling
1 teaspoon powdered sugar
1 teaspoon water
½ lemon, juiced
2 ounces dry gin
2 ice cubes
In an Old Fashioned cocktail glass, dissolve the powdered sugar in water and add the lemon juice. Add the gin and ice cubes, stir. Finish with a twist of lemon peel.
For a non-alcoholic beverage, try this lovely Lavender Lemonade! It’s tasty, refreshing, and oh-so-pretty with a dainty little sprig of lavender placed in each glass!
