For those of us who fell in love with the world of Downton Abbey, it was fairly devastating when the show ended back in 2015. But after much anticipation, we are finally returning to the grand estate—and all of its fascinating characters—with the Downton Abbey film, which is expected to release on September 20th, 2019!
I am so excited to once again enjoy the gorgeous set designs, impeccable fashions, dramatically sweeping music, and richly complex characters of this incredible world in post-Edwardian England that has been so lovingly created by Julian Fellowes.
“You’ll find there’s never a dull moment in this house.”
—The Dowager Countess, Violet
So far, we know that the story will pick up in 1927 and, according to People, the movie will feature the original cast including Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Joanne Froggatt, Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, and Allen Leech.
And some of the long-suffering characters may finally see positive turns in their stories. According to Joanne Froggatt, who plays Anna Bates, “She and Mr. Bates have a baby boy, now 18 months old.” Those two certainly deserve a slice of happiness after all they went through during the series!
Froggatt also says to expect "romance, fun, surprises, sadness and intrigue." (It wouldn’t be Downton Abbey otherwise!) On a similar note, Allen Leech, who plays Tom Branson, told Vanity Fair, “It’s Julian—you’re going to have tears. He’s never too saccharine-sweet, so be prepared for everything.”
Here's the trailer for a bit of a sneak peek...
If you just can’t wait until September, Downton Abbey: The Exhibition is currently in West Palm Beach and brings the iconic house to life with displays highlighting the fashion, culture, history, and customs characterized in the show.

Inspired by scenes pulled from a Brontë novel, English Fog is an elusive fragrance that evokes the mystery and moodiness of the foggy moors and rolling hills of the English countryside.A base of fresh bergamot entwines with warm notes of clove as floral ylang ylang lends a hint of opulence and intrigue.
